Atlas Power Cable Fix

Home Page

One issue that seems to pop up from time to time is the power supply to the mount.  The cable supplied with the mount is far too light in gauge for the system.  For the first few months I had my mount I would notice the LED blinking.  Come to discover that means it is low on power, usually voltage drop induced.  Here's my solution:

I soldered a Radio Shack Adapt-A-Plug to the end of my power cord (10' 16ga), then heat shrinked it to spark proof it, and then installed a captured Velcro Tie Wrap to the cord.  Two patches of the mating Velcro were added to the data cable housing and the cord is fastened into place.  The loop upwards you see is to remove strain from the power plug.  This is something that can be done to about any cable.
