Atlas Single Cable

Home Page

I like to use a planetarium program to run my mounting but I hate having two cables snarling my feet in the dark.

Here's my solution......

Both the Hand controller line and serial port line run through a single cable, in this case a 12 conductor 20' piece of seral data cable.

Two short runs of ribbon cable connect to the data cable inside the junction box, which is velcro'd to the back of the paddle.

The telescope end of the cable.  A short 3' DB9 cable connects to the mounting's hand paddle port.  The longer (25') DB9 cable connects to the computer serial port.  The junction block Velcro's to the tripod head.
