My good friend and Elmer
from back home in Iowa City (David Christ K0LUM) donated the Ham III rotator and the
control box to the project. I had initially planned on sending it to
Norm's Rotor Repair, but there were no exchange units and I had a timeline to
adhere to. Sure, I had the unit sitting here for almost two years and like
a lot of things in my life I let it go until the last moment. {;o)
I pulled it apart and it was in surprisingly good
shape for a 40 year old unit. The only real damage was some divots in the
bearing area from being parked in the same spot for years with a vertical load
on the mast. This should have no effect on the operation.
